Robbie was born on June 17 2021 and left us on December 13 2024 due to an aggressive form of childhood cancer called Neuroblastoma.
Everyone who met Robbie loved his happy smile, sense of humour and precocious intelligence. Children show their personalities early and Robbie was no exception.Robbie loved cars! From the time he could crawl he was fascinated with wheels. You had to pay attention, or he would be across the yard to check out the wheels of the cars on the street! This evolved into a large collection of Hot Wheels and of course a love of the Cars movies. Cars 3, or Cars with Cruz as he called it, was his favourite.
Robbie was a little sponge for learning and extremely articulate from the time he could talk. He wanted to know all the things! He and his dad would walk around the hospital identifying the things they saw. Table, chair, desk, computer etc. The one that most impressed the nurses was ‘fire extinguisher’.
After his cancer diagnoses in April 2023, Robbie spent a lot of time at the Alberta Children’s Hospital. While there was always someone with him it also involved quite a lot of screen time. The tablet became a very good friend. He loved Pocoyo, Dinosaur Train, Blaze and the Monster Machines, Bluey, Paw Patrol and Firebuds. He also loved Genevieves Playhouse and learning his colours and shapes. He even taught himself his colours in both English and Spanish! Red - Rojo, Blue - Azul, Green - Verde, Yellow - Amarillo.
Robbie's next project was learning about the solar system. He could name all the planets (in order), and his favourite planet was Saturn. Robbie was the sun to all the people who were in his orbit and brought light to our lives. He will forever be our Robbie-Roo and will be missed and remembered by all who had the good fortune to know him.
